After years of discussion and planning, the Tahoe Culinary Academy at LTCC is officially here. This exciting culinary education and training partnership between LTCC, Advance, and local employers grew out of the initial ADVANCE culinary boot camp started in 2016.

The Tahoe Culinary Academy at LTCC will lead to a redesigned Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts aligned to American Culinary Federation standards, a new ACF Registered Apprenticeship program, and of course, the original culinary boot camp, now a non-credit course open to our business and industry partners. Training has been offered in English and Spanish onsite at LTCC and offsite at Heavenly, Sierra-at-Tahoe and in the Washoe community of Hung A Lel Ti in Alpine County.

Other notable achievements include a statewide partnership with the California Conservation Corps where all CCC locations now send their culinary staff to LTCC for trainings through the bootcamps, getting approved as the first 2,000-hour ACF culinary apprenticeship program in the country, and providing a model for workforce education for the rest of the region and across the state.

And finally, a brand-new associate’s degree program in Hospitality Management launches this fall at LTCC. Students will also be able to transfer to Washington State University for a bachelor’s degree program in Hospitality Business Management, a top-10 program in the country, starting this October through the Lisa Maloff University Center. Exciting times here in Lake Tahoe and at LTCC!

“We are excited to be the wine glass sponsor of the 10th Annual Sample the Sierra event and to introduce our newly-branded partnership and the opportunities we are bringing to our community.” – Frank Gerdeman, Director of ADVANCE
